Go-Kart Stats, 2026
We mapped every go-kart track in America — 1,144 indoor and outdoor circuits with 1,166,074 driver reviews between them. Here's where the tracks actually are, which states have the most go-karting per resident, and how the big chains split the map with independents. (Journalists & bloggers: cite freely with a link.)
Which states have the most go-kart tracks per capita?
Nationally there are about 3.4 go-kart tracks per million residents. The per-capita crown goes to South Dakota at 9.7 tracks per million — 9 tracks for a state of 0.9 million people — with North Dakota at 8.8 and New Hampshire at 6.4 close behind. The pattern that jumps out: track density follows tourism and warm-weather driving seasons, not just raw population — the leaders are states where a race is a default day out. At the other end, Hawaii has just 1.4 per million.
| # | State | Tracks | Per million people |
| 1 | South Dakota | 9 | 9.7 |
| 2 | North Dakota | 7 | 8.8 |
| 3 | New Hampshire | 9 | 6.4 |
| 4 | Michigan | 59 | 5.8 |
| 5 | Delaware | 6 | 5.7 |
| 6 | Utah | 19 | 5.4 |
| 7 | Wisconsin | 31 | 5.2 |
| 8 | Indiana | 36 | 5.2 |
| 9 | Arkansas | 16 | 5.2 |
| 10 | Idaho | 10 | 5 |
| 11 | Maine | 7 | 5 |
| 12 | Nevada | 16 | 4.9 |
| 13 | Alabama | 23 | 4.5 |
| 14 | Colorado | 26 | 4.4 |
| 15 | Tennessee | 31 | 4.3 |
Indoor vs. outdoor tracks
The go-kart search splits hard on one question: indoor or outdoor? Of the 1,144 tracks in the directory, at least 224 run indoor electric karts (20%) and at least 88 are outdoor tracks (7.7%) — some tracks run both, so the two overlap. Indoor circuits race year-round and lean electric; outdoor tracks lean gas and open up in warm weather.
Chains vs. independents
Of the 1,144 tracks in the directory, 125 (11%) belong to a national chain and 1,019 are independents or small local brands — go-karting is still very much an independents’ game. The biggest brands in the directory: K1 Speed with 74 locations and Andretti Indoor Karting & Games with 15 locations.
| # | Chain | US locations in directory |
| 1 | K1 Speed | 74 |
| 2 | Andretti Indoor Karting & Games | 15 |
| 3 | Full Throttle Indoor Karting | 13 |
| 4 | Boomers | 9 |
| 5 | Supercharged Entertainment | 4 |
| 6 | RPM Raceway | 4 |
Which go-kart chain do customers rate highest?
K1 Speed vs. Andretti vs. Autobahn — who actually wins on the stopwatch that matters, the driver's rating? We averaged the Google rating of every location of each chain in the directory (chains with at least 10 US locations), so this is a location-level average, not a corporate score. On that measure, Full Throttle Indoor Karting leads at 4.64★ across 13 locations.
| # | Chain | Locations | Avg rating | Total reviews |
| 1 | Full Throttle Indoor Karting | 13 | 4.64★ | 19,898 |
| 2 | K1 Speed | 74 | 4.38★ | 143,340 |
| 3 | Andretti Indoor Karting & Games | 15 | 4.15★ | 38,754 |
America's densest go-kart cities
Go-kart tracks per 100k residents, cities over 50k population. These aren't the biggest cities — they're the mid-size metros and tourism hubs where the tracks cluster and a race is the default weekend plan.

Inside the tracks
Of the 1,144 tracks in the directory, 955 are definitive go-kart tracks — "go-kart track" is what they call themselves — with the rest being family entertainment centers, trampoline parks, and amusement complexes built around a real circuit.
