The Largest US Cities Without a Go-Kart Track, 2026

America has 1,144 go-kart tracks — and yet New York, a city of 8.5 million people, has zero inside its city limits. Here are the 30 biggest cities where go-karting is still wide open: 16 with no track at all, the rest with exactly one. Combined, that's 32 million Americans living in cities the industry hasn't caught up with yet.

If you've ever wondered where to open a go-kart track, this table is the market research. Every one of these cities clears 100,000 residents — enough birthday parties, race leagues, and corporate team events to keep a track busy — and none of them has more than one inside the line.

To be fair to these cities: most of their residents can still find a race — the tracks sit just outside the line, in the suburbs. That's exactly the point of the ranking. The demand is there; the in-city supply isn't.

Methodology. We matched every track in our national go-kart directory (1,144 tracks, continuously maintained from public business listings) against US Census place populations (2024 estimates), then ranked cities of 100,000+ residents with zero or one track inside the city limits by population. "City limits" means the track's listed city equals the census place — a track in a bordering suburb doesn't count, which is the honest way to measure in-city supply (consolidated city-county names are normalized, and township-style census places are excluded). Updated July 18, 2026; refreshed with each quarterly re-crawl.
