Go-Kart Racing Capitals of America, 2026

Nationally, America has about 0.34 go-kart tracks per 100,000 residents. Taylors Falls, Minnesota — population 1,056 — has 189.4 per 100k. That's 563× the national average. Rank small-town America by tracks per resident and you don't get a list of towns: you get a map of the country's vacation economy. The waterpark capitals, boardwalks, mountain resorts, and roller-coaster towns rise to the top, because their tracks aren't built for the people who live there. They're built for the people who visit.

The ranking: tracks per resident, towns under 50k

The receipts back the story: Pigeon Forge, Tennessee packs 10 tracks into a town of 6,446, and Pigeon Forge's 10tracks have racked up 27,735 driver reviews — about 2,774 per track against a national average of 1,019. A town of 6,446 doesn't write 27,735 reviews; its visitors do.

Not every town here is a beach boardwalk — some are small county seats that happen to be the entertainment hub for a whole rural region, which is its own kind of tourist economy. Every town links to its live track directory.

Methodology. Candidates: US incorporated places of 1,000–50,000 residents (US Census 2024 place estimates) with at least 2 go-kart tracks in our continuously maintained national directory (1,144 tracks from public business listings). Ranked by tracks per 100,000 residents — which is exactly why tourist towns top the chart: the denominator counts the people who live there, not the millions who visit. Track counts use each track's listed city; population is the incorporated place, so a town whose postal name covers a wider township can rank higher than its full-area population would imply. National average = total tracks ÷ US population. Updated July 18, 2026; refreshed with each quarterly re-crawl.
