If you're interested in racing but not quite ready to plunge into the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for Indy Car or Formula One, the Indianapolis Speedrome on the East Side is a fun option.
The absolute coolest racing experience I've ever been to!!! Starting with the fast cart series which was neck to neck intense from youth to adult races to the unhinged chaos of the Grocery getter oval, flagpole, and figure 8- 75 lap race of derby like destruction!
From watching the race to watching the crowd this has to be experienced to do it justice. It's a great time. If you value your hearing bring earplugs. If you've never seen figure 8 racing I recommend it!
Fantastic time. Weather was great. Come prepared though. It's loud smells of racing fuel. Make sure you bring ear protection if you have sensitive ears. Food was decently priced so we're beers. 6 dollars isn't bad for a beer.
